The Magic of Solo Cruising: Independence and Connection

There’s a quiet magic in setting out on your own—no compromises, no negotiations, just you and the open sea. Today marks the beginning of my sixth solo cruise, and while I’m traveling independently, I’m far from alone. Over the years, I’ve met fellow solo cruisers who’ve become more than just friendly faces on a ship—they’ve become chosen family.

A Reunion Years in the Making

Back in 2023, aboard Symphony of the Seas, a group of us solo travelers bonded over shared dinners, excursions, and late-night conversations under the stars. That trip sparked something special. We decided then and there to plan a reunion cruise for 2025—and here we are. Fourteen of us from that original sailing are reuniting, joined by many others we’ve met on subsequent voyages in 2024. Some of us sail together often, others pop in when life allows, but the connection remains strong.

Reconnecting Beyond the Ship

While this trip isn’t only about reconnecting with my solo cruiser friends, it’s also a chance to visit people I’ve met along the way who now live in Italy. These are more than travel acquaintances—they’re people I consider true friends. Our paths first crossed on previous journeys, and now I get to see them in their own cities, share a meal and a memory, and deepen the kind of connection that only travel can spark.

The Magic of Sea-Born Friendships

There’s something unique about friendships formed at sea. Maybe it’s the rhythm of the waves, or the way time slows down just enough for real conversations to unfold. We’ve celebrated birthdays, toasted to new beginnings, and supported each other through life’s curveballs—all while sailing to new horizons.

A Celebration of Independence and Belonging

This cruise isn’t just a vacation. It’s a celebration of independence, connection, and the joy of finding community in unexpected places. Whether I’m sipping hot chocolate on the balcony alone or laughing with my solo cruise crew at dinner, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Please follow along as I post about the different cities I visit along this incredible journey. From port to port, every stop holds a story—and I can’t wait to share them with you.
